The Rookie is inspired by a true story. Fillion plays John Nolan, the oldest rookie in the LAPD. At an age where most are at the peak of their career, Nolan cast aside his comfortable, small town life and moved to L.A. to pursue his dream of being a cop. Now, surrounded by rookies twenty years his junior, Nolan must navigate the dangerous,
humorous and unpredictable world of a "young" cop, determined to make his second shot at life count.

While The Rookie was renewed for season 7, ABC revealed that the show wouldn't return until midseason in 2025, instead of its regular fall schedule, raising concerns as to why this decision was made

Pretty obvious that Jenna Dewan as Bailey Nune was pregnant during filming this season (3rd child). If I had to guess they had to delay the start of filming until she didn't look pregnant or still carrying baby weight. They needed to give the actress time to get back into pre-pregnancy petiteness.

I love season 1 & 2 of The Rookie. This season there is too many "seriously rolling eye moments" I do like the chemistry of the cast so I will continue to watch for now as I do love cop shows.

Maybe the previous seasons were better but i still enjoy the ride and also i like Fillion and find some of the actresses attractive, which helps aswell ;)

This latest season is a bit too woke, don'tcha think? I'm in two minds about dumping it...

Yep, I think so, a bit nauseating actually. :/

And IMDB user reviewers really think so too. :)
No episodes in season 1 and 2 beneath 8.0.
Eps 2-4 in season 3: 6.0, 5.7 and 6.0.
All because of PC, Woke and the political agenda.
Funny reading the user reviews as well.

Lockdown, the latest episode have got a good 8 though. (I will watch it today)

I can even point out the scene that did it for me. When the office, I think played by Melissa (Portia from Dark Matter) O'Neil jumped off a building into a garbage bin... IRL she would've been dressed down for that action. And, from my impression of S1, she would've been. Because they were doing a semi-decent job with the police training aspect. Now, however, the sergeant was praising her.

If a show is more realistic than others or f.i. respects the law of physics lke the Expanse, kudos and all but that was never a criteria for me if i can enjoy a show or not. The mentioned scene dident even register negative or unrealistic with me but i can see that it might, if you are more involved with the police business and know the ins and outs.

Maybe if a show is way over the top it might bother me but even then it could still be funny.

I enjoyed both seasons, the first maybe a little more as it was more about being the Rookie and trainee in spe but you can do that only for so long and in season 2 there were some more serious or thrilling episodes which were not bad either.

Maybe the dynamic also changed a bit after Afton Williamson left the show, but her replacement is not bad either.

I'm not saying people shouldn't continue to enjoy it and it's always great to see Nathan working. Unfortunately, for me, it's quality has dropped substantially. And perhaps part of that is that I do have police in the family and a lot of S1 wasn't too off the mark. But, pretty much immediately, in S2 they went from kind of what happens to absolutely not what happens.

That was my Shark Jump for this show and it's sad since, as I said, S1 I loved. I even kept watching it until the mid-season break but when it came back I realized I didn't care anymore. It just became too unbelievable.

The world they established in S1, which seemed to be roughly real, had been washed away for this season making it hard for my disbelief to be suspended :(
